Kamarhati Jute Mill to reopen today

Kolkata: In a significant development on Friday, the state Labour department announced the opening of Kamarhati Jute Mill in North 24-Parganas from Saturday. The jute mill employs as many as 4,000 workers.
"We held a tripartite meeting involving the labour union, the mill management and the government officials, where decks have been cleared for the opening of the jute mill. The gates will be opened at 6 am sharp," state Labour minister Moloy Ghatak said.
It may be mentioned that the jute mill was closed down 10 days ago, after a dispute between the labour group and the authorities of the mill. A section of the labourers had also ransacked the mill, leading the authorities to furnish suspension of work.
