Junior doctors protest inside CMCH campus

Kolkata: Junior doctors at the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) started an indefinite hunger strike protesting against the incidents of atrocities on doctors at various hospitals across the state.
Many junior doctors on Saturday staged a protest outside the new outpatient department building of the hospital. They said that the doctors at various institutions have been heckled in repeated incidents. There were repeated incidents of atrocities on the doctors. In many cases, doctors have been injured in the attacks carried out by the family members of the patients.
A doctor who joined the indefinite strike said: "We are receiving injuries in attacks while performing duties in hospitals. We have been insulted and heckled in repeated incidents of assault. I think the time has come to step forward, to get united, to raise our voice to save the doctors fraternity."
It may be mentioned here that many doctors from both state-run hospitals and private establishments were staging demonstrations under the banner of the United Doctors' Voice of Bengal (UDVOB) protesting against the atrocities on the doctors.
