Jilted in love, youth hangs self in Siliguri

According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victim might have committed suicide after being jilted in love. The victim, Bhaskar Dutta, a resident of Surjya Nagar area of Siliguri, was suffering from depression for the past few days.

The family members of the victim told police that he had a relationship with a girl. The victim's father Choton Dutta told police that Bhaskar had talked with the girl over phone for nearly an hour on Monday night. He also told police that the victim's mother was also humiliated by the family members of the girl.

Police came to know that the victim had left the house on Monday evening, saying he was going to the house of the girl. He returned home later in the evening.

His family members also heard him talking over his mobile phone on Monday night. They have alleged that he took the drastic step after the girl refused to continue the relation with him. On Tuesday morning, they found that his room was locked from inside. He did not open the door despite repeated knocks on the door. After being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the body.
