Jeet Ganguly, Avijit to get Bishesh Sangeet Samman

The award will be given by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the inauguration of Bangla Sangeet Mela that is going to be held at Uttirnya on December 23.

Sources in the state secretariat confirmed that this year's Bishesh Sangeet Samman will be given to Jeet Ganguly and Avijit Bhattacharya for their contribution in the filed of music.

Besides honouring the two legends of the world of music with Bishesh Sangeet Samman, some singers and musicians will also be honored with Sangeet Mahasamman and Sangeet Samman.

It may be mentioned that like Kolkata International Film Festival, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also take n the Bangla Sangeet Mela to a new height and this year around 3,000 artists will be participating in the festival that will continue from December 24 to 30 at Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Phanibhusan Vidya Binode Yatra Mancha, Rabindra-Okakura Bhavan , Madhududan Mancha, Mohur Kunja, Hedua park, Madhusudan Mukta Mancha and Deshapriya Park. The closing ceremony of Bangla Sangeet Mela will continue the entire night at Rabindra Sadan.

The curtain raiser of Bangla Sangeet Mela was held on December 16 in front of Rabindra Sadan in the presence of Veteran singer Dwijen Mukhopadhyay, Sriradha Bandyopadhyay and many other famous singers. Indranil Sen, the minister of state for Information and Cultural Affairs department, was present at the curtain raiser programme in which folk artists from different parts of the state showcased their talent.
