ITIs in Bengal to have smart classrooms

KOLKATA: The state government is taking an initiative to introduce smart classrooms in ITIs to provide updated training to ensure that students who come out of the institutions are completely ready to join industry.
For the first time, an initiative to introduce smart classrooms has taken place. At present, there are 235 smart classrooms in the state and around 123 of those are run by private groups following the guidelines of the state government.
Students will be immensely benefitted with the introduction of smart classes. The smart classrooms will be comparatively larger in size than the normal ones.
Purnendu Basu, the state Technical Education minister, said such classrooms will have all modern amenities those are need to be in place for a smart classroom. There will be free wifi for students and teachers in the classrooms. Moreover, the furniture and other equipment will be placed as per the requirement of courses in the classrooms.
The minister further said there is also an arrangement for soft skill training under which students will get opportunity to learn basics of computer and at the same time, there will also be classes to improve communication skills in both English and Hindi.
The initiative has been taken considering that in today's world a student should be completely ready to be inducted in a company when they move out of the institution after completing their course of studies.
The state government is also taking necessary steps to ensure that private agencies undertake classes for maximum benefits of students.
