Italian delicacies to tickle your taste buds at food event in city

Kolkata: The fourth edition of Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, an annual event promoting Italy's gastronomic culture abroad, is all set to start in the city on November 18.

While 'Food Education: The Culture of Taste' is the theme of the fourth Week of Italian Cuisine in the World ending on November 24, it aims to promote Italy's agri-food industry and the tradition of high-quality food and wine.

"The restaurants in participating hotels will offer a special Italian menu for the entire week, offering to Kolkatans the original flavours and tastes of the Italian gastronomic tradition. In addition, a group of Italian students from an Italian Hotel Management school will visit Kolkata during the week, interacting with IIHM colleagues and exposing the future chefs of our two countries to the respective culinary traditions. Two well-known Chefs will come from Italy for the week: Andrea Misseri, working with Taj, and Paolo Risica who will prepare special dinners for the Glenburn Penthouse and for Basu Foundation for the Arts", said Italian Consul General Damiano Francovigh.

The week's initiatives are implemented through the Italian network of missions abroad, 295 diplomatic and consular offices as well as Italian cultural institutes.

"The festival is an ideal time for seasoned and budding entrepreneurs, chefs, sommeliers, and food enthusiasts In India," said Pankaj Parekh, chairman of The Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The week's initiatives are implemented through the Italian network of missions abroad, 295 diplomatic and consular offices as well as Italian cultural institutes.

The key components of the programs carried out throughout the world are: The Mediterranean diet as a healthy lifestyle and model of balanced nutrition, Products with registered and protected designation of origin and tackling the Italian Sounding phenomenon, Italian wines and their territories.
