IT dept officials to meet mobile phone manufacturers to provide land for Sonarpur Software park

Kolkata: Senior officials of state IT department will meet mobile phone manufacturers on November 20 to provide land at Sonarpur Software park.
Talks with other IT companies are on over the allotment of plot. The software park will come up on 10. 72 acre of land and will be divided into 17 plots. As a part of ease of doing business, the infrastructure at the park is ready and willing firms can start their business as early as possible.
Unlike in the past, the infrastructure at the software park has been completed before inviting the interested groups. Earlier for IT park or industrial estates, land was allotted to the companies and then steps were taken to set up the infrastructure. As a result, in most of the industrial estates which had been constructed during the Left Front regime there is deplorable infrastructure. The roads inside most of the industrial estates are bad coupled with water scarcity and frequent power cuts. The roads get flooded during monsoon.
Buildings in Sonarpur software park cover 40% of the total area while roads cover another 30% and service areas that include power, water supply etc), open area collectively cover 30%.
The boundary wall and internal street lighting have been completed along with protection of the main gate by security personnel round the clock. There is uninterrupted power supply from a 33/ 11KV substation, 20Mx 10M wide internal pavement and car parking. There is proper drainage system to ensure that there is no waterlogging inside the park. The park is situated 30 km from the airport and 23 km from Howrah station. It is just 2 km from Garia- Baruipur highway. The state IT minister Bratya Basu along with senior officials of the department went to the site for inspection. IT firms have already shown interest to start business at the software park.
