'Include Ratna in devp work at Behala'

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has asked party leaders to engage Ratna Chatterjee in various development projects that are taking place in Behala.

She was addressing a gathering on the eve of Independence Day at Behala on Wednesday evening. "Your in-laws and the entire Trinamool family is beside you. What has been done is unethical," she told Ratna, without naming Sovan Chatterjee who joined BJP in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh said the investigation against Sovan Chatterjee in connection with the Narada scam will continue and BJP will not give him clean chit until the case closes.

Talking to newsmen, Ghosh said: "Law will take its own course and investigation will continue against him. We have inducted him because he will be useful in consolidating our base in South 24-Parganas." Chatterjee was the president of the South 24-Parganas unit of Trinamool and is currently the MLA from Behala East.

Along with Chatterjee, Baishakhi Banerjee, principal of Milli Al-Ameen College, also joined BJP in New Delhi.

Drama was enacted at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi when Sovan Chatterjee's long time friend Debashree Roy, actor and two-time Trinamool MLA from Raidighi in South 24-Parganas came in the afternoon and sat in the room next to the one where Sovan was sitting with BJP leaders.

However, neither Mukul Roy nor the BJP state leadership was aware of Debashree's wish to join the party. Roy waited for some time and left.
