Immersion carnival on Red Road to be held on October 3 this year

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that carnival on Red Road with idols of goddesses Durga and her entourage will be held on October 3.
The Chief Minister attended the meeting with organisers of Durga Puja in the city. Representatives of all religions were also present in the meeting held in Netaji Indoor Stadium on Wednesday.
Banerjee said immersion of idols will take place till 6 pm on Dashami that is on September 30. There will be no immersion on October 1. Muharram will be observed on that day. Idol immersion will resume on October 2 and continue till October 4.
Banerjee urged the Puja organisers to take necessary measures so that no one can get even a small opportunity to create trouble during the festival.
She asked the Puja organisers whether they are facing any problems in organising the Puja. She also urged the Puja organisers to distribute
footballs among children as the FIFA Under-17 Football
World Cup is going to start soon after the Puja and Kolkata is the host city.
Banerjee said that guests from different parts of the world who will be pouring into the city for the World Cup before the Puja will also be invited to be in the carnival that will be taking place on Red Road on October 3.
It may be mentioned that the number of Puja organisers who will be participating in the rally is going to increase this time. The number would be more than 50. Like the previous year, this year too, the Red Road will be decorated for the carnival.
Idols of goddesses Durga and her entourage of well known Puja organisers in the city and Howrah will be passing along Red Road amidst a colourful procession.
The Chief Minister will be present in the programme.
