Ignore canards and those who spread them, says Mamata

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged youths to think positive and not get swayed away by canards and negative thoughts.

Addressing a gathering after attending Boro Sarbojonin Jagadhatri Puja at Chandannagore on Wednesday afternoon, she said: "I request the younger generation to always think positive. A positive mind enhances creativity while a negative mind, on the contrary, kills an individual slowly. Don't listen to canards and ignore those who spread them. Tell them that you are not interested in such meaningless words."

Indranil Sen, Minister of State for Information and Cultural Affairs and Kalyan Banerjee, party MP from Serampore accompanied Banerjee.

The Chief Minister advised the youth to love Bengal and work hard to take the state forward. "Bengal has a rich heritage and if the younger generation works hard, then the state will move forward and become the best in the world."

It may be mentioned that Banerjee has raised her voice against the spread of canards by certain political parties. "By spreading canard you cannot do anything. It only exposes your weaknesses," she had earlier said.

Banerjee said Bengal has the tradition to respect people belonging to all faiths and religious communities. "We worship Ma Durga, Kali and take part in Jagadhatri Puja as well. Few days ago, we celebrated Chhath Puja. We celebrate the religious festivals of other communities too. We follow the path of religious synthesis as preached by Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. This is our tradition and we will continue to follow this," Banerjee added.
