ICU of private nursing home in Basirhat to shut down

Kolkata: The North 24-Parganas district health officials ordered the 'Care and Cure Hospital', a private nursing home in Barasat to close down its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after they found inadequate infrastructure.

Raghabesh Majumdar, Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMoH) in the district said there were some infrastructural lapses found during the inquiry conducted by the health department.

As a result, the district health officials have directed the nursing home authorities to stop the functioning of the ICU as it lacked minimum required infrastructure.

It was learnt that a series of complaints were submitted to the state Health department against the nursing home as it did not have adequate infrastructure.

After receiving various complaints, the health department started an inquiry against the nursing home authorities. The nursing home authorities were asked to stop the admission of patients till any further order issued by the district health administration.

The inquiry team during its probe found some serious infrastructural lapses at the nursing home.
