Hundreds visit Kreta Suraksha Mela

KOLKATA: Hundreds of people visited the two-day Kreta Suraksha Mela which concluded at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Thursday.
The fair was organised by the state Consumer Affairs department. Consumers gathered around stalls to know about the Consumer Protection Act and complained how they had been cheated by several companies.
While addressing the seminar, state Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim said there was a need to strengthen the Consumer Protection movement because if the consumers are aware of their rights then the companies cannot take them for a ride.
Sadhan Pande, minister for Consumer Affairs department said camps are being held throughout the state to make people aware of their rights. He said most of the people alleged how they are being duped by builders. In many cases, they have not received their flats though they have paid the money.
