Howrah resident held for killing wife

Kolkata: A husband has killed his wife by slashing her with a sharp weapon. The incident has triggered tension among local people. The incident took place at the Chatterjee Haat area of Howrah on Saturday night. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Sisir Bez. They said that the couple had been staying there for the past few years. Local residents told the police that the couple had frequent quarrels over financial constraints in the family. Police said that two years ago, the accused had met with an accident, following which he was left unemployed. Due to his unemployment, the victim went into depression. The incident turned ugly when the accused took a sharp weapon and slashed his wife following a prolonged quarrel. After hearing the screams of the victim, locals rushed to the spot and found her lying in a pool of blood. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced brought dead.
