Housewife conspires with boyfriend, murders her husband
Kolkata: In another sensational incident, a housewife conspired with her boyfriend and murdered her husband.
The incident took place at Howrah's Batra. The deceased has been identified as Ratan Nath (44). Police have arrested Ratan's wife and her boyfriend Rajib Mondal on charges of murder. They were remanded to 7 days police custody after being produced before the Howrah court. Ratan was a resident of Natabar Pal lane in Howrah. The family members of the deceased alleged that a quarrel had broken out between him and Rajib several times in this connection. Rajib used to come to Ratan's house as a dog trainer.
Ratan's mother has alleged that Rajib had developed an illicit relationship with Ratan's wife. Ratan used to run a local business in the area. On Saturday both Ratan and Rajib got involved in a heated altercation over this issue when the latter visited his house to train five dogs. After Rajib departed, a quarrel broke out between Ratan and his wife Sharmistha. Later in the evening, Sharmistha went to the police station alleging that her husband had beaten her up. Police took the woman to her in-laws' house. The woman claimed that few minutes after reaching home she found that her husband was lying in a pool of blood near the garage. She drew the attention of the local people who informed the matter to the police station.
Ratan was taken to a private nursing home in Howrah and was shifted to the Howrah district hospital as his condition deteriorated. He was declared brought dead after being taken to the Howrah District Hospital. Police have arrested Rajib in this connection. They also detained the victim's wife and later arrested her as there were irregularities in her statements. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that Ratan was hit on his head with a heavy substance. The investigation also suggests that there was a conspiracy behind the death. Ratan's mother told the police that Rajib came to the house to train the dogs around one year ago. Police have started a detailed probe in this incident.
