Highway robbers attack bizmen, snatch Rs 10 lakh

A gang of highway robbers attacked some businessmen on National Highway 60 in between Binpur and Kusumi in West Midnapore early Tuesday morning and snatched Rs 10 lakh cash from them.

Police said the three businessmen were admitted to Belda Village Hospital with severe injuries as they were roughed up by the miscreants.

Some vegetable sellers were returning from a weekly market. They were travelling in a mini-truck when the miscreants stopped their vehicle.

Each of the businessmen had around Rs 1 to Rs 2 lakh as they were returning after having done good business in the market. The miscreants were aware that they had

huge cash with them and attacked them after chalking out a proper plan.

The miscreants were carrying choppers and firearms. They threatened to kill them if they cried for help. But three businessmen were not ready to give them the bags containing the money. Thus, the miscreants hit them on the head with the butt of a weapon and took away their bags.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving the information and took the injured persons to the hospital. A probe has been initiated in this connection.
