High-level talks over East-West Metro project today at Nabanna

Kolkata: A high-level meeting will be conducted over the East-West Metro project at Nabanna on Wednesday.
According to sources, Chief Secretary Malay De will be heading the meeting. Officials of all the concerned departments and the project implementing agencies will be present in the meeting.
It is learnt that top brass of the state Public Works Department (PWD) and state Transport Department will also be present in the meeting. According to an official, there will be discussion over various issues related to the implementation of the project.
It may be recalled that a target has been set to ensure that the country's first underwater metro service from Sealdah to Howrah Maidan commence by the end of 2020.
The service in phase I between Salt Lake Sector V and Phool Bagan is expected to commence in 2018 and work to complete the target within the set line is going on in full swing. While phase II, that is from Sealdah to Howrah Maidan, is expected to get completed by 2020.
It may be mentioned that fully automated rakes will be operating in the East-West Metro corridor and six rakes will be brought by March.
