HIDCO to provide free parking during Pujas

Kolkata: Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) will provide free parking facility to people during the Pujas in a bid to woo them to visit New Town which is coming up as a residential, commercial, economic, medical and educational hub with upgraded green cover.

For four days during the pujas, people can come and park their vehicles free of cost just off Eco Park gate number 2. There will be pujo round up on a giant screen at Eco Park. The visitors can enjoy food at Café Ekante and take part in the adda session and listen to musical programmes.

Parking cars is a major problem in Kolkata. Many people cannot visit important puja pandals as vehicles will have to be parked at a distance which may be half kilometer or even one kilometer away. For example, to visit Mohammad Ali park and College Square, one has to park vehicles almost half a kilometer away.

Also, people cannot drive because of a large crowd waiting to visit important pandals. In case of chauffeur-driven cars, the problem is not acute, but for the owner driven vehicles one has to drop the idea of visiting important community pujas.

However, these problems do not occur in New Town where people can visit the pandals in a relaxed mood and enjoy Eco Park or Mother's Wax museum.
