HIDCO to organise Corporate Golf Day

Kolkata: Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation ( HIDCO) will organise Corporate Golf Day in New Town on November 17. Corporates from New Town and Sector V will be invited to take part in induction Golf for novices and longest- drive completion for veterans. There would be no charges but corporates will be allowed to nominate individual players. HIDCO had organised a Corporate Cycling Competition ( CCC) on August 13 at Sector V and Nabadiganta and more than 300 participants took part.
It may be mentioned that HIDCO has opened a Golf course at Eco park. This is the only Golf course set up by a state government agency. The two clubs in Kolkata were set up by the British many years ago. Common people could not play Golf because memberships to these clubs are very expensive. Also, the Golf sticks are very costly.
In a bid to popularise Golf, HIDCO has set up the Golf course where people from middle-class families can go and enjoy the game. The equipment can be hired and the membership fee is nominal.
To project Bengal as a destination, HIDCO will organise I-T Golf between December 7 and 9 when many Chief Infomatics Officers from all
over the country are expected to be around
because of Infocom event which will be held in
the city. Driving range for free use by the
delegates on all three days will be held. The event is likely to create enthusiasm among the corporate as this is for the first time when such
