HIDCO to engage dhakis for welcoming city-bound people

Kolkata: Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) will engage dhakis to welcome the guests who will come to the city via New Town on Panchami and Sasthi.

Dhakis will be placed at the Akankha More along Biswa Bangla Sarani and they will play dhak to welcome the home-bound people. Many people who work in other states come to the city via New Town during the Pujas as they prefer to enjoy the time with relatives, friends and acquaintances in the city.

New Town will be brightly illuminated during the Pujas. Café Ekante, one of the most sought after restaurants in the city, will offer a special menu during the four days of Durga Puja.

Meanwhile, the residents of Snehodiya and the members of Swapno Bhor will organise Durga Puja for the first time at Snehodiya. Swami Suviranandaji, general secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Mission, will inaugurate the Puja on October 3.

There has been great enthusiasm among the senior citizens over the Puja. Many of the members who had held important positions during their career are using their expertise to organise the Puja flawlessly.

There will also be cultural shows organised by the members of Swapno Bhor in the evening on three days. There will be distribution of prasad among the members afterwards.

While a senior citizen has donated the idol of Ma Durga, some others have donated money for the four-day Puja.
