Heat-weary Kolkatans to get another thunderstorm soon

Kolkata: The city and its adjoining areas may witness a thunderstorm on Saturday, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore predicted.
People in South Bengal districts may also witness a thunderstorm in the next few days, as a fresh cyclonic circulation may sweep through the area. It may be mentioned that on last Tuesday, several parts of South Bengal including the city, witnessed a severe thunderstorm, accompanied by rain.
This not only created havoc, damaging cars and buildings and killing 18 persons in the state, but also brought down the temperature by a few notches, giving respite to the city dwellers from the heat, till Wednesday.
The temperature again started rising from Thursday, with the people witnessing sultry and uncomfortable weather.
According to weather experts, the people will feel the hot and humid condition on Friday as well. According to the latest weather office prediction, the temperature may again go down from Saturday, due to thunderstorm and rain.
Some of the South Bengal district may also witness hailstorm on Saturday and Sunday, the Met office predicted.
It has been learnt that a strong wind will be sweeping through the city and various parts of South Bengal districts, including East Burdwan, West Burdwan, North 24-Parganas, South 24-Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia, Murshidabad, Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram and Birbhum. There is also a prediction of thundershower in many of the North Bengal districts. A weather expert said that the thunderstorm will bring the temperature further down, giving people respite from the hot and humid condition in the city in the next few days. A huge amount of vapour is entering the city's sky, turning into a favorable condition for downpour.
The weather office had already issued an alert, saying that the mercury may soar up to 40 degree Celsius in some of the Western districts of the state, while a high level of discomfort may prevail in the city later next week.
