Hand grenade recovered from Cooch Behar playground

Darjeeling: A hand grenade was recovered from a playground in Cooch Behar on Wednesday morning. On Wednesday, residents who often visit the Town Club ground for morning walks, spotted the hand grenade. The police was immediately informed. The Town Club is located around 20m away from the Haldibari police station. Along with the police, the BSF have also started an investigation. Police are keeping a close watch on the situation.
"We have started an investigation" stated
Pravin Pradhan, Inspector in Charge of the Haldibari police station. The location of Cooch Behar bordering Bangladesh and the state of Assam makes it highly vulnerable. In the past, banned militant outfit Kamtapur Liberation Army was highly active in the district. Many KLO operatives have been arrested in the past and arms were recovered from Cooch Behar. The main objective of the KLO is to form a separate Kamtapur country comprising 6 districts of Bengal; four districts of Assam; 1 district of Bihar and 1 district of Nepal.
