Haldia Dock Complex bags two National Safety Awards

Kolkata: Haldia Dock Complex, Kolkata Port Trust bagged two National Safety Awards for the year 2015 based on Accident Free Year & Lowest Average Frequency Rate for both on-shore and on-board operations. G Senthilvel, Deputy Chairman, Haldia Dock Complex received the awards from Santosh Kumar Gangwar Minister (Independent Charge), Union Ministry of Labour & Employment in a function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on September 17, 2017 on behalf of Haldia Dock Complex. The HDC received the awards for the tenth time. Earlier, the Port had received the awards in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008 & 2010. The progressive equipping of berths by port and by reputed organisations, both for loading / unloading of cargo as well as shore handling operations along with various policy issues taken by KoPT has ensured that HDC creates a safe and productive environment for Cargo Handling. In addition, the Safety Committee headed by Deputy Chairman and consisting of Deputy Director, Inspectorate of Dock Safety, representative of Labour Unions and various port operators / partners has led special emphasis in implementing various safety related issues. Incidentally, Haldia Dock Complex has also been awarded the best port for its Swachhata initiative. Despite constraints of draft, the cargo handling of Haldia Dock Complex has grown by 19 percent during the current year as compared to Major Ports average of 3.3 percent
