Had nothing to do with 'biopic', says irate Mamata

Kolkata: Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee said she had nothing to do with Baghini, an alleged biopic on her and threatened to file a defamation suit against those spreading lies in this regard.

A biopic on the life of Modi has been made recently and the matter is currently lying before the Supreme Court. In several meetings addressed recently by Banerjee, she had raised the issue and criticised Modi for his publicity hankering.

The Trinamool supremo was heard saying: "People are interested to know the life of Gandhiji, Netaji or B R Ambedkar but no one is interested to know about the life of Modi."

"What is all this nonsense being spread! I have nothing at all to do with any biopic. If some young people have collected stories & expressed themselves, that's up to them. Not related to us. I am not Narendra Modi. Please do not compel me to file for defamation by spreading lies," Banerjee tweeted on Wednesday.

For the past few days, some people have been active on social media, criticising the biopic allegedly made on the Trinamool supremo. They have also lodged a complaint in the Election Commission in this connection as it violates the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) which came into effect since the notification of the election.

Following investigation, it has been found that some youths have made the biopic containing clippings from

the speeches of Mamata Banerjee. However, neither was Banerjee aware of the biopic nor did the makers get in touch with her.
