Guardians meet MP Birla authorities, demand identity of other perpetrator

Kolkata: A 5-member representative team of the guardians whose children study at the MP Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School in Behala, met the school authorities on Tuesday, urging them to identify the other accused who was also involved in the molestation of a three and half-year-old girl.
After holding the meeting, the guardians said that school authorities have sought 24 hours to look into the matter. One of the two accused, identified as Manoj, was suspended by the school authorities on Monday. He was later arrested. The guardians also urged school authorities to announce the name of the other accused who was also involved in the incident. The parents who took part in Tuesday's meeting said that school authorities have been requested to identify the other accused. The parents alleged that the school authorities were not cooperating with them. They said that discussion had taken place on a 7- point agenda and school authorities have been urged to strengthen security in school.
The guardians staged a protest demonstration outside the school campus on Tuesday morning before attending the meeting. An agitation was carried out at the school on Monday also when the guardians had put up a road block on James Long Sarani, leading to chaos. On December 2, the victim's mother, a resident of Behala, alleged that her daughter had fallen ill after returning from school on September 13. Her family members found blood stains on her uniform. They had taken the girl to Vidyasagar State General Hospital on the same day where the doctors confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. The victim had told her parents that two non-teaching staff had tortured her. Following the allegation, school authorities had told the victim's family that no incident of misconduct had been found when they examined CCTV footages of the school.
