Govt announces fresh Chhat Puja notification

Kolkata: The state government has declared sectional holiday on October 26 and there will be a general holiday on the next day for Chhat Puja. With a general holiday being declared on October 27, the state government employees have got holidays for three days at a stretch as the following day is Saturday. In a notification issued by the state Finance department, it has been stated that "Chhat Puja will be celebrated this year on October 26 and 27…October 26 has been declared as a sectional holiday for the employees hailing mainly from the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and UP and working in the state government offices, local bodies, boards, corporations, undertakings and educational institutions all over the state." At the same time, October 27 has been declared as a general holiday for the employees in the offices apart from the offices of Registrar of Assurance, Kolkata and the Collector of Stamp revenue, Kolkata.
