Governor writes to CM

Kolkata: Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Saturday wrote to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee advising her to take immediate steps to provide security to the doctors and to take them into confidence about a firm and credible assurance of arrangements of their security.

The Governor also urged the Chief Minister to conduct quick probe on the incidents of assault on the junior doctors so that suitable atmosphere is generated enabling the doctors to resume their duties. In his letter, the Governor also expressed his sadness at "her non-responsiveness to his efforts to talk to her" and in the same letter he mentioned that he had written her a letter on Friday in which he mentioned the grievances and demands of doctors and their willingness to resume their duties upon redressal of their grievances. However, later, Banerjee said that she has already spoken to the Governor and apprised him about the steps taken by the state government to resolve the impasse in the hospitals.
