Gold jewellery seized from Dum Dum Metro Station

Kolkata: Gold jewellery weighing more than 4.86 kg was seized from a resident of Uttar Pradesh at Dum Dum Metro Station on Wednesday night.
The person, Hariom Rastogi, was carrying a bag in which the huge quantity of gold jewellery was found. He was detained after he failed to provide any supporting documents for the valuables.
It was on Wednesday night, when an on-duty lady constable, Ipshita Paul, detected the bag while scanning the same at Dum Dum Metro Station. She took the man to the on-duty officer and the bag was searched in the office of the Station Superintendent at Dum Dum Metro Station.
The person told the police that he is originally a resident of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh, but he could not show any supporting documents.
The matter was informed to Sinthi Police Station and the person was handed over to the police. The seized jewellery was also handed over to Sinthi Police.
The police are probing the incident and are trying to reach to the root of the case.
