Get ready to experience the chill in the air

Kolkata: Temperature will go down in next two days and people may get a feel of winter chill.

The Regional Meteorological Centre at Alipore on Wednesday said the temperature will drop by 2-3 degrees in the next couple of days. The mercury had dropped by a few notches in the past couple of days.

Western disturbances are affecting the steady flow of winter chill into the state. The weather officials believe that the northern wind will also flow into the South Bengal districts in couple of days time and set the stage for the winter to finally set in. People in various South Bengal districts will witness morning mist in the air. It will however disappear as the day will progress.

"The city may feel the winter chill within a week as the western disturbances ceased to have any impact on the weather system of the region. The western disturbances were causing interruption to the steady flow of winter chill from the North. The mercury will further go down in the next two days paving the way for the winter to set in," a senior weather official said.

According to the weather office prediction, the Western districts such as Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram and West Midnapore may witness a steady fall in the temperature with the mercury touching near 12 degree Celsius in the next couple of days.

The humidity-level may also go up during day time. The MeT office assumes that winter may set in across the South Bengal districts after December 10.

The temperature will however fluctuate from time to time in the next few days. The temperature will drop in the morning and during night. People in North Bengal districts may witness a thick mist in the morning.
