Geeta Rani is party candidate of TMC from Sabang

Kolkata: TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee on Sunday announced the name of Geeta Rani Bhuniya as the party's candidate for the Sabang Assembly bypolls in West Midnapore that will be held on December 12. Bhuniya, the wife of Trinamool Congress leader Manas Bhuniya, had joined the party in September 2016 along with her husband.
"We have had a lot of discussions at the state level and also at the district level and have selected Geeta Rani Bhuniya as our candidate for the bypolls at Sabang Assembly constituency. We are hopeful that the people of Sabang will bestow their faith on her and she will be able to win the elections convincingly," Chatterjee said at a press conference at Trinamool Bhavan.
Manas Bhuniya, who had been six-time MLA from Sabang, had been associated with the Congress for 46 long years before he joined the Trinamool Congress. He was a Cabinet minister in the Mamata Banerjee government in 2011 when Congress was a part of it.
