Free golf games for Infocom delegates

Kolkata: Delegates coming to attend the three-day Infocom event in the city in December will get an opportunity to try their hands on golf at the golf arena at Eco Park in New Town. West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) is hopeful that the effort will augur well in projecting Bengal as a destination ahead of the Bengal Global Business Summit in January 2018.
"The three-day event christened as IT Golf will be held from December 7 to 9. A large number of Chief Informatics Officers are expected to be around because of the Infocom event that will be held at a five star hotel near Science City. We have decided to make the golf course free for use by delegates on all three days," HIDCO chairman Debashis Sen said. The Eco Park Golf Arena was a part in the recently concluded event "India Learn Golf Week" (ILGW). Industry bodies, clubs and star players came together to organise ILGW from September 25 to October 1 with the aim to unearth future champions in golf. However, the rains and the pujas, played spoilsport and not many people turned up. However, there are requests for a repeat event after a few weeks. "We will organise Corporate Golf Day on November 17, when corporates mostly from New Town Rajarhat and Salt Lake Sector V would be invited to take part in an Induction Golf for novices and Longest-Drive Competition for veterans. There would be no charges but only corporates would be allowed to nominate individual players," a senior HIDCO official said.
