Fourth motor vehicle office in city to be inaugurated today

Kolkata: The fourth unit of the motor vehicle office of state Transport Directorate's Kolkata zone will start functioning on Friday. The MV office has come up near Behala Flying Training Institute and it will be inaugurated on Friday.
This office follows the two which have started functioning at Kasba and Salt Lake. It will be of great help to the people of the area as they no longer have to travel long distances to get services related to the Transport Directorate.
It may be mentioned that the Kasba and Salt Lake units have also made it convenient for the people of the areas, as they can get their work done from their nearby MV office.
At the same time, the state Transport department is also going to give identity cards to drivers and conductors of buses, said state Transport minister Suvendu Adhikari.
It may be recalled that the state Transport department had introduced uniforms for drivers and conductors of all the buses, which were operated specially during the FIFA Under-17 Football World Cup.
The state Transport department is also going to introduce an auto-rickshaw policy and it would be brought in soon to regularise plying of auto-rickshaws in different parts of the city and its adjoining areas.
Moreover, 40 electric buses will also be introduced in the city soon. The electric buses will ensure pollution-free transportation for around 50 people at a time.
