Four students injured after crude bomb explodes

Kolkata: Four school students were injured after a crude bomb exploded at Paddapukur Park in Entally on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said some of the students from a nearby school came to play in the area during the recess. One of the injured victims told the police that two unidentified persons came to the spot and handed over a crude bomb to one of them by asking him to dispose it. The victims are all teenagers and residents of nearby area.
When one of the victims tried to dispose the bomb, it suddenly went off and this resulted in serious injuries on the children. The victims were playing at the park when the accident took place. The boy who received the bomb suffered serious injuries. Three others who were also there received injuries. The incident triggered tension among locals.
After hearing the sound of bomb blast, locals rushed to the spot. They rescued the injured victims and rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to police, one of the teenagers suffered splinter injuries on his neck and other parts of his body. The two accused who handed over the bomb to one of the victims fled the spot after the incident. Police are trying to identify the accused and conducting raids to nab the culprits.
Cops are trying to ascertain the reason as to why the accused handed over the crude bomb to school students. They are probing if local miscreants are involved in the incident. In a few previous incidents, miscreants hurled bombs in the Entally area. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that some local criminals might have be involved in the incident. All the injured victims have been undergoing treatment at a hospital. Their health condition is stated to be stable now.
