Four minors arrested for gangraping girl in Sonarpur

Kolkata: Four minors, who had allegedly forced a girl to drink alcohol and later gangraped her in South 24-Parganas' Sonarpur, have been arrested.
According to the police, a friend of the victim, identified as Arghya Das, had taken her to the house of one of their common friends Utpal Gayen at the Rathtala area of Sonarpur on Tuesday evening. Two other friends of the duo were already in the house when the victim was taken to the house.
She was later gangraped by the accused, when the family members of Gayen were away from home. The incident has created a sensation in the village. She was a student of class XII from a local school.
Police said that Das had been acquainted with the victim for quite a long time and both of them used to perform for a local theatre group in the district. As a result of this, the victim had agreed to accompany Das to the house of their common friend, suspect the police.
Gayen's family members returned home later on Tuesday evening, when they found the girl lying unconscious inside the toilet. Two of the accused had fled from the spot while the two others were caught inside the house.
The local people also came to know about the incident and informed the matter to the local police station. The victim was rushed to Subhasgram primary health centre and later shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata, as her condition deteriorated.
The victim's family members told the police that she had told them that she was going to meet a friend, while leaving the house. As she did not return home till Tuesday midnight, they also called the local police station. They came to know about the incident later.
The family members of the girl also alleged that there were multiple injury marks on her body. She was also bleeding profusely when she was recovered from the house. There were blood stains on her dress as well.
It seemed that the accused had tied her hands as it was evident from the marks. The victim's mobile phone has been missing after the incident occurred.
Police have started a detailed probe in this regard. They have arrested all the four accused for their alleged involvement in the incident.
