Four killed in two road accidents

Kolkata: Four persons have been killed in two separate accidents in the state.
The first incident took place when two bikers were hit by a trailer in Mangalpur area of Ranigunge on Friday morning. The incident triggered traffic congestion on the National Highway 2.
It was learnt that the victims were employees of a local petrol pump.
The family members of the deceased staged a demonstration at the petrol pump with the bodies demanding compensation.
The victims were residents of Kunustaria village in Ranigunge.
They were going to Kajora from Ranigunge when a trailer coming from the opposite direction hit their motorcycle.
The driver of the trailer fled the spot along with the vehicle after the accident.
Eyewitnesses told the police that the trailer was running at a high speed when the bikers were trying to cross the road. As there was a sharp bend, the bikers could not see the approaching vehicle.
The victims died on spot after they were crushed under the wheels of the speeding truck.
The demonstration was later lifted following the intervention of the senior police officers in
the district.
Police are conducting raids to nab the trailer driver.
In another incident, a driver of a minidor and the helper were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in collided head on with a speeding bus coming from the opposite direction.
The incident took place in Taherpur area of Nadia on Friday morning.
The incident caused traffic congestion in the area. Both the vehicles were badly damaged following
the accident.
The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared
brought dead.
