Fountain show to highlight Bengal's culture in Dum Dum

Kolkata: State Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim will inaugurate a theme-based water fountain show in Dum Dum municipality on December 13. Bratya Basu, state IT minister and Jyotipriyo Mallick, state Food minister will be present at the function.
It may be mentioned that this unique theme was first conceptualised by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Her idea was to use the form of book as a symbol of knowledge and literature.
The idea was to develop a fountain which will highlight the rich cultural background of Bengal and also represent a glimpse of the immortal creations of the biggest poets and writers of the state.
Her idea was implemented by Bratya Basu who happens to be the local MLA. Banerjee has asked all the civic bodies to develop parks and beautify the areas under them.
Dum Dum municipality has developed the theme-based water fountain show at Dhobia Tala Pond at Ward No-19 under its jurisdiction.
A huge semicircular water screen approximately 30ft x 30 ft in size will be created on the water body. A projector will be used to project an animated video that will highlight some of the immortal literary creations of Bengal.
A book will take shape in the water screen and pictures of some of the greatest poets and writers of Bengal along with their works will emerge from the book through animation.
A list of the poets and their famous creations to be projected on the water screen has been made.
The central water screen will be rhythmically supported by a set of dancing water fountains which will form different shapes in the tune of selected Rabindra Sangeet songs.
