Former GTA deputy Chairman arrested from Kharibari

Darjeeling: The former deputy chairman of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) and close confidant of GJM leader Bimal Gurung was arrested on Wednesday. He has been remanded to four days' police custody.
Lobsang Lama has been implicated in cases pertaining to the attack on Jaldhaka police station on June 17, 2017, along with the torching of two police vehicles. He has been charged under Sections 188/147/149/153/506/ 435/307 and 120 of the Indian Penal Code.
"I was arrested from Kharibari at the Bengal-Bihar border. However, I do not know why I have been arrested. I had returned from Delhi on Wednesday and was on my way for a school inspection when I was arrested," stated Lama.
He was then brought to the Kalimpong police station and produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Kalimpong where he is being remanded to four days' police custody.
