For repair works, water supply to be affected on Nov 11

Kolkata: The supply of filtered water in vast areas in South Kolkata and southern fringes will be affected on November 11 due to necessary repair works at Garden Reach Water Works (GRWW).
The residents of the affected areas will get water till 10 am on November 11 and the KMC will not be able to supply drinking water during the afternoon and evening. Normal services will be resumed on November 12.
The supply from the booster stations at Kalighat, Ranikuthi, Garfa, Behala, Siriti, Daspara, Bansdroni, Gandhi Maidan, Golf Green, Senpally, Layelka, Prafulla Park and Chetla will be suspended. As a result, water supply in South Kolkata's Tollygunge, Behala Jadavpur and Garden Reach will be affected. Parts of Borough 8, 9,10, 11, 12 and 13 will be affected.
Interconnection between 1,200 mm diameter reserve main and 600 mm diameter reserve main at Upen Banerjee Road for filling up Paransree booster pumping station will be done. Also, valves will be installed and replaced at the clear water and raw water pumping stations at Garden Reach. Besides, leaks on the main and trunk at different locations will be done. Moreover, the routine maintenance work of GRWW and other booster stations will be done.
KMC engineers said as routine maintenance is very important for smooth running of the water supply system, the inconvenience caused to the residents of the areas where repairing works will be undertaken will be regretted.
