Footballer murder: Arrested youth remanded to police custody, Councillor's husband to JC

Kolkata: The two arrested youth in connection with the murder of footballer Snehashis Dasgupta were remanded to police custody while the Councillor's husband has been sent to judicial custody.
The Councillor's husband Pintu Nag, Kaliranjan Saha and Pratap Mondal were produced before the Serampore Court on Wednesday. They were arrested in connection with the footballer's death on Tuesday. Pintu was remanded in the judicial custody for 14 days. Kaliranjan and Pratap were sent to police custody for six days. It may be recalled that the body of the 21-year-old footballer, who used to
play as goalkeeper in the football club of Kolkata Port Trust, with injury marks found beside the railway tracks near Serampore Railway Station in Hooghly on Saturday morning. The police had initiated a case under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on charges of murder, causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention. The police initiated a probe based on the complaint lodged with the police. The police are now trying to find the mobile of the victim.
A police officer said that the phone of the victim will help them to ascertain what led to the incident. Moreover, the police are also going through the call record details of the victim's phone to find out with whom he had interacted the most before the incident.
