Floating market at Mirik soon

Kolkata: The state government will set up a floating market at Mirik, along the lines of that in Patuli.
This was decided at the meeting in Darjeeling on Wednesday.
The floating market will be on the line of the state's one and only arrangement that has come up in Patuli.
The vegetable market is becoming popular and on Saturdays and Sundays, people from neighbouring areas come for marketing. The vegetable sellers put their wares on boats and the entire area has been decorated with lights. The pavement has also been upgraded.
The floating market in Mirik will be on the four-kilometre lake. It is a tourist spot and its attraction will further enhance once the market is ready.
The banks will be developed and brightly illuminated. A park will be set up with decorated benches for the visitors. In addition to vegetables, the special items of Darjeeling including oranges and tea will be sold.
People who visit Darjeeling from the plains often buy woollens and home decorations made by local artisans.
They will have a good market. Once the detailed project report is ready, steps will be taken to set up the floating market.
