Five suffer injuries in four accidents

Kolkata: Five persons were injured in four road accidents across the city on Thursday and Friday. Among them two were school students.

On Thursday, around 10:05 pm, a police personnel identified as Rajdeep Das of South West traffic guard was going to his residence at Belgharia police quarter riding his bike. Near Jhinjira Bazar on Taratala Road, another bike rider hit Das. As a result, he lost control and the bike skidded off the road and he fell on the road. Meanwhile, the offending biker fled the scene along with his bike.

Locals ran to Das's aid and also informed local traffic police personnel. Later, Das was admitted at a private hospital in New Alipore with multiple injuries.

On Friday afternoon around 2:45 pm, a West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) bus from S-9 route hit a pool car carrying school students near C R Avenue crossing on B B Ganguly Street.

As a result, two students identified as Ritika Saha and Ritika Chatterjee sustained minor injuries.

They were rushed to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) from where they have been treated and discharged. The offending WBTC bus has been seized and the driver has been taken in to custody by the police.

Also, on Friday morning around 6:50 am, a bike rider identified as Prabir Kumar Singh was hit by a taxi on Raja Rammohan Roy Road near Panchanantala Mandir in Behala.

As a result, Singh sustained minor injuries and was treated and discharged from M R Bangur Hospital.

On Friday, around 10:55 am, another bike rider identified as Biwadip Roy was hit by an unknown vehicle on AJC Bose Road near Vivekananda Park in Hastings area.

Locals rushed him to SSKM hospital where he has been admitted with

multiple injuries. Police are checking with the CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the area to identify the offending vehicle.
