First year student ragged in pvt college

Kolkata: A first year engineering student from a private engineering college in Salt Lake has lodged a complaint at the Electronic Complex police station alleging that he was ragged by senior students of his college.
The victim is studying electronic engineering course in the first year. He alleged that he was asked by the second and third year students of the college to introduce himself by singing a song. As he refused to do so, they allegedly punched on his face and beat him up badly. Meanwhile, the police did not divulge the identity of the victim.
The victim also alleged that he had been asked by the accused students to deliver extempore on a vulgar topic without any pause. As the victim failed to do so among these senior students, the accused attacked the victim. He was also asked to carry out various other tasks.
The victim told the police that as a part of ragging, the victim had been asked to roam inside the college campus with a bottle made of glass on his head. The seniors also said that he would have to undergo physical torture if the glass falls from his head.
The victim has received injuries on his face and other parts of his body after being beaten up by the accused. His family members on Monday lodged a complaint with the Bidhannagar police. Police have started a probe to identify the accused.
