Firhad inaugurates flyover, bus terminus at New Town

Kolkata: Firhad Hakim, state Urban Development minister inaugurated a flyover on Tuesday. The flyover now connect the Bagjola Canal Bank Road with Fintech, IT and Education Hub of New Town.
The flyover measuring 580m aims to facilitate faster connectivity of the New Town hubs with KNI Sarani (VIP Road) via Baguihati. The flyover closes the intersection of Biswa Bangla Sarani and Bagjola Canal Bank Road, an accident prone zone due to huge traffic load.
Hakim also inaugurated a bus terminus, spanning over an area of 2.35 acre, which has the parking space for 50 buses. It also has a Gazebo (central sitting place), administrative block comprising starter room, first aid room, pantry and toilets. It even has a
charging station for electric buses. Some space has also been allocated for the construction of food kiosks, but at a later state.
This area has three large housing complexes — Sukhobrishti, ELITA Garden vista and DLF New Town Heights which has around 1,00,000 residents. This bus terminus on completion is expected to have more bus routes introduced, thereby, bettering the connectivity of New Town.
