Fire & Emergency Services dept: Process to issue digitised certificates now a reality

Kolkata: Fire and Emergency Services department on Thursday issued digital certificates to the applicants during a function at its headquarters on Mirza Ghalib Street.
The function was presided over by minister of the department Sovan Chatterjee. Senior officials of Fire and Emergency Services department were also present at the event. Chatterjee said the process to give various certificates has been digitised and this will not only reduce the time taken for issuance but will also save the applicants from harassment. He said if there is any flaw in the application form, it will be detected and the applicants will be informed. The faults will be rectified immediately. He also added that all certificates will be issued within 60 days from the date of application.
There have been allegations of harassment by the applicants against the Fire and Emergency Services department for quite some time. Chatterjee said the department had begun the process to digitise applications from July and the process has been completed. Earlier, a no objection certificate from the Fire and Emergency Services department was a nightmare. The applicants had no clue about the status of the file. Digitisation will help them to track the file and all errors will be rectified at the entry level.
