Fire breaks out at warehouse in Howrah, none hurt

Kolkata: A warehouse full of plastic burnt to ashes at Malipanchghora in Howrah on Sunday afternoon. Four fire tenders controlled the fire within an hour. No injury was reported.

According to the sources, around 1 pm on Sunday, the residents of J N Mukherjee road at Ghusuri saw smoke coming out of the house, which was used as a warehouse to store waste plastic materials. Within a few minutes flames could be seen. Malipanchghora police station was immediately informed and fire brigade was informed. Two fire tenders reached the place within a short period of time and started dousing the flames.

After a while two more fire tenders were called as the existing fighters felt the need as the intensity of the fire was growing. Later, altogether four fire tenders controlled the fire within an hour.

This caused panic among locals as they thought the fire might spread to adjacent buildings as the area is very congested. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. Police is checking with the owner of the warehouse and whether he had any permission to store inflammable materials such as plastics there.
