Finance dept to hold financial advisors meet

Kolkata: The state Finance department is set to hold a high-level meeting of financial advisors of all state government departments to review budget related matters and compliance of the e-tender process.
The meeting will be held on January 15 in the state Secretariat, in which senior officials of the state Finance department will be present, apart from all the financial advisors.
There will be discussions to review a set of matters including budget, administrative approval and completion of tender formalities before sanction of fund and role of financial advisors for successful compliance of e-tender/e-auction provisions by the statutory bodies and PSUs.
The matters related to the Integrated Finance Management System (IFMS) will also be another important aspect on which there will be discussions.
The issues related to surrender of unutilised fund will also be a point of discussion in the meeting that is going to be held on Monday.
It may be recalled that in June 2016, the state government had decided to nominate financial advisors as representatives of the Finance department in the board of directors of state PSUs, statutory corporations and state-aided universities to ensure proper utilisation of fund allotted for different projects.
This came at the time when steps had been taken to ensure proper and complete utilisation of funds being allotted for development in different sectors.
At the same time, steps have also been taken to ensure advance planning by all departments as they have more or less an idea of their possible allocation in the next financial year. Therefore, the departments should complete advance planning of works to be executed in the next financial year.
