FAMILY OF DECEASED STAGE PROTEST AT TAMLUK HEALTH CENTRE

Kolkata: Family members of a 43-year-old man who died at a primary health centre at Tomluk on Tuesday staged agitation alleging that the health centre authorities handed over the body late. As they alleged that body of the victim had started decomposing as it was kept on the floor of the health centre for over 24 hours. The other inmates of the primary health centre started leaving the room where the body was allegedly for over 24 hours as foul smell was emanating from the body. The family members alleged that despite repeated requests, the health centre authorities did not take any step to remove the body from the room where other patients were undergoing treatment. The victim, Kartik Das (43), a resident of Ramchandrapur in Tomluk was admitted to the health centre last Sunday as he was complaining of some ailments. The victim later died at the health centre on Sunday evening. The health centre authorities did not hand over the dead body to the family members. It was kept on the floor till Monday night when the body was finally handed over to his family members. The family members on Tuesday staged demonstration inside the health centre campus demanding probe into the incident.
