Fake job racket busted in Siliguri, one arrested

Kolkata: Siliguri Police on Thursday busted a fake job racket and arrested one person for his alleged involvement in the racket.
Acting on a tip off, a team of investigators raided a house at Deshbandu para in Siliguri and arrested the accused, identified as
Abhijit Chakraborty.
According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that some others are also involved in the incident.
Police are interrogating Chakraborty to know the names of other accused who might have been involved in this fake job racket.
Cops said the accused used to dupe youth with false assurance of jobs in some nationalised banks.
The accused used to work with a private insurance company in Siliguri but he was sacked after he allegedly misappropriated
some funds.
The accused had been at large for quite a long time following the incident.
In the course of investigation, police came to know that the accused used to visit the office of a city-based football club.
They are investigating the motive behind his frequent visit to the city.
According to police, the accused had duped a few lakhs of rupees from
job seekers.
Police also suspect that the accused had duped some of the youth who are members of a particular club where he used to visit.
During investigation, police came to know that Chakraborty used to convince youngsters that
he had some high-level connection and could easily get
them employed.
He used to demand anything between Rs 1-2 lakh, according
to the situation.
After interrogating the accused, police came to know that he used receive the amount in installments
from the candidates in some cases.
Police have seized some documents from his possession. They are conducting raids to nab others involved in the racket.
