Fake job racket busted in Nadia, one arrested

Kolkata: Nadia Police on Friday busted a fake job racket and arrested one person for his alleged involvement. Acting on a tip off, a team of investigators raided a house at Kathuriapara area under Kotwali police station in the district.
The accused has been identified as Dhananjoy Das. According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that some others are also involved in the incident. Police are interrogating Das to know the names of other accused who might have been involved in this fake job racket.
According to the investigation, police came to know that the accused used to dupe youth with false jobs assurances in various offices. The accused used to receive money from people promising them jobs in the post of Group D staff in government departments. The matter came to light after a victim lodged a complaint with the local police station narrating her ordeal. On the basis of the specific complaint, a probe has been initiated. Police said that one Pampa Das, a resident of Krishnanagar, alleged that the accused received Rs 30,000 from her with assurances that she would be appointed as a Group D staff. The victim later received an SMS from the accused saying that she would be given an appointment letter at the Utility Building situated at New Town Action Area II. The victim later lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime department. It was learnt that the accused used to work with a private insurance company and was sacked. He had been at large for quite a long time following the incident.
