Fake job racket busted, 2 held

Kolkata: Bidhannagar police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in a fake job racket operating from the state.

The two arrested persons have been identified as Sunil Sarkar (32) and Prabir Sayin (35). According to a preliminary investigation, police came to know that they used to extort money from job aspirants under the pretext of providing them with employment in various group D posts at government departments.

Police also came to know that the accused used to introduce themselves as the chairman of Group D Recruitment Board. They had collected money to the tune of Rs 1-2 lakh from each candidate.

The family members of a job seeker, whom the accused had approached, suspected the existence of any such post as mentioned by them and then reported the matter to the local police in Bidhannagar.

They used to call up the job seekers and asked them to come to some place in Rajarhat. They had collected money from some of the candidates from the same area, police came to know in the investigation.

After starting an investigation, police conducted raids at various places. They finally arrested the duo on Thursday morning. Police suspect that others are involved in the fake job racket.

A detailed probe has been initiated

in this regard.
