Fake doctor traced in Raigunge, raids on to nab him

Kolkata: The police have come to know about the whereabouts of a fake doctor who had been practicing as an MBBS doctor at his chamber at Raigunge in North Dinajpur for the past 15 years without a valid registration. The accused has been absconding and police are conducting raids to nab the accused.
Police came to know that the accused Ranjan Tarafdar, a resident of Bhupalpur area of Raigunge, had been running a chamber for the past few years without being a doctor. The police also came to know that the accused had failed to clear the Higher Secondary examination. He passed the Madhyamik examination in two attempts. The accused had put up a signboard outside his chamber that claimed that he had done an MBBS course from Kolkata. The sign board mentioned that he was a general physician.
The district police raided his chamber but failed to arrest the accused as he fled from his chamber apprehending his arrest. Police have, however, recovered fake registrations and other documents from his chamber. Police also recovered some expired medicines from his chamber and have also seized some medical instruments from his chamber.
As the news spread, the local residents came in large numbers and staged a demonstration in front of the chamber of the accused doctor. Police later pacified the mob and brought the situation under control. The incident, however, triggered tension in the locality. Police have locked the chamber of the accused. Raids are being carried out at various places to nab the culprit.
Police are also interrogating the family members of the accused. Some of his relatives told the police that they asked the accused not to practice as an MBBS doctor but he did not listen to their appeals.
